How is the Venus ( and Mars ) energy expressed by women and men?
My question is based on differents schools of thought, one representing, that the way we express, the active and passive principle through our Venus and Mars is 50/50, that is, both are equal in women and men, and another that its expressed differently to the extent that her Mars ( and her Sun sign ) represents what she finds attractive in a man. In a man it would be his Moon and Venus which could provide clues to what he looks for in women. So a woman tends to " disown " her Mars energy, and so it is projected onto the men she comes into contact with, since the energy is present in some form and has to go somewhere. Traditionally Mars represents masculine qualities that men relate to and " own ". I know from my own experience that my mars qualities become more dominant when i come into contact with women in venus in scorpio and mars in scorpio. Everything a mars does will be accepted by the venus. Even at a very subconscious level. For the sake of simplicity this would be for heterosexuals because I am clueless how it works with same sex couples. How do you guys feel about your Mars and Venus signs ? Do you relate to one more than than the other ? Can you relate to the description below ?
Men with Venus in Scorpio
The femme fatale is just fine for him. He is especially attracted to women who ooze sensuality, who are perhaps a little dark and mysterious, and who have a magnetic and powerful aura.

Re: Venus energy and gender
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 7:39 PMif i'm understanding correctly a womens sun and mars sign tells what she finds attractive
in a man. so....... sun sagittarius, mars gemini.
i'm drawn to open honest straight-forward guys. sexual innuendos, word-games, and witty
flirting can stimulate me intellectually. someone who peaks my curiosity and holds my
boredom at bay. a crazy sense of humor. gemini rules the hands and i like guys with nice
hands and mouth : )~ -

the gemini-mars thats what i'm attracted to. the scorps that i've dealt with were not straight-
forward at all. mainly the women. the guys to a certain extent.

Re: Venus energy and gender
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 8:44 PMI don't disown my Mars energy, and I would not appreciate a man who disowned his Venus energy.
I'm Mars in Capricorn, and I am a good leader when I need to be. I know exactly how much energy I need to put into something to be successful, and that's how I roll.
I'm Venus in Scorpio, which means I have crazy mad crushes, and the people I most like I NEVER goddamn get. -

Mon, May 19, 2008 - 9:01 PMgabby this is what i found for mars in capricorn.
The man who attracts you seems serious, aloof, and detached, and somehow projects a hard-to-read "inscrutable" look that intrigues you.
You like a man who's ambitious and socially acceptable, and you're drawn to money, status, and power.
You may be attracted to men who are much older than you. -

Re: Venus energy and gender
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 2:38 PMI do like a "hard to read inscrutable" look, but I think that's cause I'm attracted to Virgo men.
None of the rest of it is true. I am actually repelled by people with money, status, and power. And I prefer similar age or slightly younger men.
I just think this is a really heterosexist and even sexist way of looking at astrology, really. As a bi-sexual woman, I find the conversation really irritating and immature. -

There is fluidity to gender
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 6:32 AM
Hello Gabby, I can understand why you are irritated by stereotypes, the more i read into it the more i realize how how complex it gets because there is fluidity to gender. Its not black and white. We cant see from horoscopes whether we are male or female and we all have Mars and Venus. A butch lesbian may feel more comfortable asserting her Mars and finding Venus in a feminine girlfriend. A straight "metrosexual" man may embrace his Venus while still feeling comfortable using his Mars to make the first move with women. (Or not.) A lipstick lesbian may identify as much with Venus as a straight "girly girl," yet project her Mars onto a woman instead of a man. A man who has sex with men may shun his Venus, while a gay man may embrace his inner queen.
I'm all for "owning" both Venus and Mars in one's chart. And its fluid in the sense that it depends who we come into contact with, what we identify with, what others may bring out of us and what we project onto others.... -

Re: There is fluidity to gender
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 3:37 PMYou're right... there's no way to know someone's gender from their chart, and whether people are aware of astrology or not, certain elements of their chart might be more prominent at times than at others (for instance, my venus in scorpio comes out when I'm "on the prowl," but when in a relationship, the Neptune conjunct my sun and my prominent fourth house make me sweeter and more girly), or we might utilize the energies of different planets in different ways. It's just all extremely complicated.
